How do I get Slack alerts when target accounts post new jobs?
By the RoleDawn team · Published · Updated
Put your target accounts in a monitor and connect it to a Slack channel. In RoleDawn you paste up to 500 company names or domains into a monitor's watch-list, optionally narrow it to the teams you sell to, and add a Slack incoming-webhook URL. Every day at 13:00 UTC, RoleDawn posts to that channel when one of those accounts starts hiring a new team or doubles a team's openings, each line linked to the job post. Slack alerts and watch-lists are on the Pro ($99/month) and Agency ($199/month) plans and in the 14-day free trial, no card.
RoleDawn reads 4,481 company career pages every day and sorts every job title into one of 43 role families, so an alert tells you which team an account just started building, not just that it posted a job. Start the free trial or see pricing.
What does a target-account alert tell me?
A RoleDawn alert fires when one of your accounts does one of two things:
Starts a new team: it posts in a role family we have not seen on its careers page before — its first RevOps, security, data or SDR role, for example. These are labelled observed, or inferred when the board is established but every posting in that team is recent (you choose whether monitors include inferred signals).
Surges: openings in one team doubled in 30 days.
That is deliberately narrower than "every new job": a target account reposting a backfill is noise; the same account opening its first security role is a reason to call this week. See the companies doing this right now in the First-hire index.
How do I set up Slack alerts for my target account list?
Create a Slack incoming webhook. In Slack, create an incoming webhook for the channel that should receive alerts (Slack's guide). The URL starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/.
Start a RoleDawn trial. Start the 14-day free trial (no card). It includes Slack alerts and watch-lists.
Paste your target accounts. In the 3-step setup or under New monitor, paste up to 500 company names or domains into the watch-list.
Choose what counts as a signal. Optionally pick the role families you sell to (for example RevOps, Security or SDR / BDR), a region, locations or title keywords. Leave them empty to hear about any new team at those accounts.
Paste the webhook and send a test. Paste the webhook URL under Delivery, save, and click "Send test to Slack" to check the channel.
Read the morning message. New matches arrive at 13:00 UTC: the signal label, the company and the job title linked to the posting.
Adding one company at a time? Open it in the company directory and click "Watch" — the monitor is pre-filled with that account.
One message a day with a line per company: the signal label, the company and the job title linked to the post. Up to 40 lines; the rest are in your dashboard.
What are the other ways to get these alerts?
RoleDawn is not the only route. Here is what the common alternatives do, from their own public pages (checked 2026-10-07). Side-by-side table: job posting alerts in Slack, 4 ways compared.
Zapier + RSS. "RSS by Zapier" can trigger when a new feed item is published and Slack can post it to a channel (Zapier: RSS + Slack). It only works for job boards that publish an RSS feed, and Zapier checks for new items every 15 minutes on the Free plan (100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps), 2 minutes on Professional and 1 minute on Team (Zapier pricing). You get every new item, so you decide yourself which ones matter.
Apollo. Apollo lets you filter companies by job postings (Apollo blog), has an Organization Job Postings API endpoint that costs 1 credit per page (Apollo API docs), and a Slack integration that brings Apollo notifications and buying signals into Slack (Apollo: Slack integration). It makes sense if your team already prospects and sequences in Apollo.
Build it on Apify. Apify Store has actors that read job boards and post new postings to a Slack incoming webhook, for example a Greenhouse-based job-posting monitor (Apify example). You run them on a cron schedule (Apify schedules), and Apify's own Slack integration can notify you about runs (Apify: Slack integration). You maintain the company list, the schedule and the filtering.
Choose RoleDawn when you want one daily message about the accounts that just started building the team you sell to, already sorted into role families and linked to the job post, at a flat price with no workflow to maintain. Choose a Zapier or Apify build when you want every raw posting from a few specific boards and are happy to maintain it. Choose Apollo when your team already lives there.
FAQ
Does RoleDawn alert on every new job at my target accounts?
No. It alerts on two moments: a company posting in a team (role family) it has not posted in before on its own careers page, and a team whose openings doubled in 30 days. Routine backfills and repeat postings in a team that already exists do not trigger an alert. If you need every single posting at a few companies, the free jobs API at roledawn.com/api returns a company's open roles from its Greenhouse, Lever or Ashby board.
How many target accounts can I watch?
Up to 500 companies per monitor on Pro and Agency (and during the trial). Pro has 15 monitors and Agency 100, so you can split accounts by territory, rep or client.
Can I paste domains instead of company names?
Yes. Paste names ("Stripe"), domains ("stripe.com") or RoleDawn company slugs, separated by commas or new lines. You can also open a company in the RoleDawn directory and click "Watch" to add it.
Which companies can RoleDawn watch?
Companies whose careers page runs on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, Recruitee or Workday and is in the RoleDawn directory at roledawn.com/companies. If one of your accounts is not tracked yet, send its careers page through roledawn.com/contact and RoleDawn adds it if it uses a supported job board.
How often do Slack alerts arrive?
Once a day at 13:00 UTC, only on days with new matches. One message covers all your monitors; if more than 40 companies match on one day, the rest are in your dashboard.
Can different monitors post to different Slack channels?
Not today. One Slack webhook per account, so all monitors post to the same channel. The email digest can run next to it.
Is Slack included on the Starter plan?
No. Starter ($49/month) sends the same daily digest by email and does not include watch-lists. Slack and watch-lists are on Pro and Agency, and in the 14-day free trial.
Do I need a Slack app or admin approval?
RoleDawn uses a Slack incoming webhook, which you create in Slack for one channel. Whether you need an admin to approve it depends on your Slack workspace settings.
